Features of the New Hoops U!

Now that the all-new HoopsU.com is up and running, I wanted to point out a few of the new features you will find.

Overall, the design has changed and there are many backend features that make it much easier for me to manage the site. And by managing, I also mean I will be able to add content more easily and more often! Of course if you're an Insider, you'll get several new plays, drills, and articles each and every week!

For the visitor, here is what you can find at the new Hoops U:

  • Commenting System: You can now comment on the articles and posts. This is a new feature that was not on the old version of Hoops U. Whether it's an article, a play, or a drill, you can actively discuss it ... add your own thoughts and ideas to enhance everyone's knowledge!
  • Print / PDF: Pages are now printer-friendly! You can also save them to your own .pdf file. At the bottom of each page, you will see a "Print | PDF" button. Clicking that button will open a box over the top of your page where can print and/or save it. It also removes everything except the essential content!
  • Contributing Writers: If you have knowledge to share, you can now be a contributing writer! Whether you have your own blog, website, etc, we can help you expand your brand and readership. Learn more about how to be a HoopsU.com Contributing Writer.
  • Hoops U. Blog: I was running my old blog through Tumblr, which was fine ... but now I'll be running the Hoops U. Blog right from this new version of the site. I'll use the Hoops U. Blog to post a lot of site news, updates, and additions as well as my own thoughts, opinions, and links to other relevant content. The blog address can be found here: http://www.hoopsu.com/category/blog

There are other features you will probably find throughout the all-new HoopsU.com as well. I hope you will enjoy the update / upgrade of the site!

Hoops U. Relaunch Event
I am running a special 'Relaunch' contest and giving away 5 yearly memberships to Hoops U. Insider!

Each winner will be chosen from 5 different methods of entry -- that means you have 5 chances to win (and, you could potentially win more than once!).

One of the winners will be selected from this email subscription list. Therefore, if you are getting this email, you are automatically entered to win.

The other ways to win...:

99 Wisdoms from Wooden

Last year, after Coach Wooden passed away, I started a page titled '99 Wisdoms from Wooden'.

Nearly every day, I added a Wooden quote or maxim with the idea of adding 99; one for each year of his life. Between doing the new site and other busy-ness, I never quite completed that page.

Now ... it is done. I figured it would be a good time to get all 99 quotes up! If you want some great Wooden quotes -- some you've seen and possibly some new ones -- check out the 99 Wisdoms from Wooden page!

Thank you for subscribing to 'Inside the Rim'!

To be certain that you continue to receive this HoopsU.com email newsletter, please add coachfonz@hoopsu.com to your address book or contacts list.

The Latest Inside...
Two-Ball Dribbling Relay Drill
Teach basketball players to dribble with either hand to develop hand-eye coordination. Also develops ballhandling skills through competition.
1-and-1 and Run Free Throw Drill
Practice free throw shooting in a pressure situation. This is a team free throw drill that puts pressure on the shooter by causing pressure just as they would feel in a game.
Defender Towel Drill
Improve defensive quickness and foot movement when playing on-the-ball defense by not allowing the defensive player to use his hands.
5 Make 30 Shooting Drill
Teach players to be more effective in their shooting and shot preparation. This team shooting drill will also develop passing, receiving, and communication skills as well as the ability to shoot under pressure if made into a competitive drill.
1-4 High Continuity Zone Offense
The 1-4 High Continuity is an effective zone offense to employ against odd-front zones such as the 1-2-2. This zone offense utilizes a 1-4 high set to attack the middle for scoring opportunities or kick-out passes for jump shots.
2-Line Competitive Shooting Drill
Work on receiving a pass and shooting the basketball in a competitive situation. Also helps the passer work on making good passes to a shooter.
